Hello Blaise, welcome to BookDragon Club! What are you working on right now?
Currently I am working on self-publishing a paranormal romance known as the Wolfgods series. The first book in the series is titled Blessing of Luna and follows the story of Damien Pierce and Jillian Styles. It takes a very familiar trope in the world of paranormal romance and turns it on its head when the world of the gods mingles with the world of the immortals. The second book, Bane of Tenebris is in production and is set to release sometime next year. When I am not working on writing, I’m reading for reviews, offering author interviews and updating the blog of the publishing company I’m running out of my house.
What is your favorite thing about writing?
Escaping. Writing offers an outlet that is liberating from every day life. Being the author, you have to fully immerse yourself into the world of your characters or they will appear hollow to the reader. If you aren’t crying, laughing or sulking when your characters are, then something is wrong. It is a truly amazing feeling.
Do you have a writing muse or favorite tunes that inspire you?
I have a couple of things I do before writing. First I literally spend hours perusing youtube and pandora to build a list of music that I think matches the novel. It could be that the same song is put on multiple playlists. Second I have a necklace I always wear known as my “writing owl”. If I don’t have it on, I literally have trouble writing. Coffee is also a must.
Describe your favorite protagonist from one of your stories. Tell us something nobody knows about them, something that’s not in your story.
My favorite character to write would have to be Alexander Kain. He is actually near and dear to me because he is a mix of two characters from a previous title I worked on only to have to put it on the back-burner. He’s an incredibly complex character to write because if there is a single thing off about him then he’s off.
Do you have a favorite writing snack?
Coffee. Most of the time I always have coffee. Rarely do I have food at my desk.
What are you working on next?
The next thing I’m working on is the next installment in the series known as Bane of Tenebris. I am very excited to work on it.
It tells Kain’s story which is much darker. No spoilers.
Are you on social media? Currently I run an instagram, twitter and my blog. You can also find me on goodreads.
What do you wish your fans knew about you?
I am completely self-published. The only thing ever outsourced is cover design. I do all of my own editing, revising and formatting.
I’m also an avid user of Scrivener. Otherwise, I’m a coffee lover who likes to cook and enjoys a nice binge watch on netflix every now and then. I also love to try and support other authors and open the blog up to interviews and book reviews. I’m also known in the literary world as a plotster. I know the general plot for a story and then just go with it. If I do choose to outline, I rarely stick to it, preferring the freedom of sitting down and typing.
Anything else you’d like to share with the readers at BookDragon?
I would love to get to meet other authors and network. Something I would like to share with readers is to remember authors are human, we do tend to make mistakes. I love fan email and getting asked questions as well so feel free to contact me.
