Siri Alvarsson – A Character Interview from Shades of Valhalla

Welcome Siri! We understand you are the protagonist of Shades of Valhalla. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m in my last year of high school, and I love science. I’ve spent my whole life moving from town to town with my mom — she’s a freelance security consultant and a single mom. Self-defense is pretty important to her, obvs, so she’s trained me in all kinds of martial arts. Lately, I’ve been playing around with capoeira and krav maga. We just moved again, to this tiny town in Vermont that seems okay.

What’s your favorite thing to do on a Saturday afternoon?

This year I’ve been running a lot and working on my parkour moves. Once the snow hits, though, you’ll find me on the mountain snowboarding.

What makes your blood boil?

I hate it when people mistreat animals. Just last week I saw this guy run over a squirrel in the road on purpose. I stopped and held that squirrel for almost an hour, I swear. That tiny little body… I just couldn’t stop crying. But I guess it was just stunned because all of a sudden jumped off my lap  and ran off into the woods.

What do you look for in a friend or lover?

What everybody wants, I guess. Just to be accepted. A guy who isn’t intimidated by my mad skills would be nice.

Favorite hobby or food?

Pizza and chocolate, duh!

Tell us something you’ve never told anyone.

I’ve been having some really weird visions lately. Earthquakes, mudslides, tornadoes and this uber-creepy guy always begging me to join him… or die. Like I said – ick. I haven’t told my mom yet, though. I’m really not in the mood to be dragged off to a shrink.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I guess I’ll be done with college by then, so hopefully traveling the world. I’d love to be an archaeologist collecting weird artifacts and weirder friends. I’ve been having dreams, too, about this guy with green eyes. His laugh haunts me, and I feel like it’s so, I don’t know, real? I wouldn’t mind meeting him…
